AudioMoth Flash App 1.7.0 & Firmware Updates

We've released updates for the AudioMoth Flash App along with updates to all three official firmwares (Basic, USB Mic, and GPS Sync).

The Flash App can now use USB HID flashing to apply firmware to AudioMoths. This new flashing method is more robust than the previous serial flashing. The firmware updates add support for this too.

As well as new flashing methods the app is now able to operate with more than one AudioMoth application open. Previously the AudioMoth Flash App, Time App, and Configuration App would interfere with each other when all attempting to communicate with the same device.

Is there an Audiomoth firmware update roadmap available somewhere (didn't find one)? I will update a punch of moths, so I wouldn't want to discover a new version available right after it. I understand there might be quick fixes that need to be submitted ASAP, but I am asking about planned releases.

Hi Oliver,

We don't currently have a roadmap for upcoming firmware development. However looking forward, we will be releasing firmware version 1.10.0 at some point in the next couple of months. This update will bring the ability to schedule recordings around sunrise/sunset and will also add GUANO metadata to recordings.

Hi, I have one more question. I'm curious if the upcoming update with added guano metadata would include a feature that allows to add prefixes to files created by a particular Audiomoth device? Files with device specific names would (at least in my case) make managing the files much more convenient.

The GitHub repository for the AudioMoth GPS Sync firmware is here - https://github.com/OpenAcousticDevices/AudioMoth-GPS-Sync. However, the only change from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1 is the support for the USB HID bootloader.

The desktop app also got a minor update - https://github.com/OpenAcousticDevices/AudioMoth-GPS-Sync-App/releases/tag/1.0.1 - to use the most up to date version of the Electron framework. No functional changes.
