Per the instructions above I have tried to reflash the audio moth. I have used three cables I know work with other devices and when I hook the audio moth up to the ocmputer a green light comes on the audio moth but when I use the software to flash it, the software does not recognize that there is an audio moth attached. Just now when I switched from usb off to default the little white switch broke off. I am going to turn it to default when I deploy it, send in the data cardd, but I have very little confidence that this audio moth is working as it should.
Hi,
I read in your post that you are recording for the solar eclipse. I am from the Eclipse Soundscapes team. If you are recording for eclipse soundscapes, then the AudioMoth from us should have a continuous red and flashing green when in Custom mode. As previously mentioned, this means it's ready for the time chime. If it's flashing red and green, you probably need to update the firmware. We have instructions on how to do this on the Data Collector page on EclipseSoundscapes.org. If you need more help please reach out at info@EclipseSoundscapes.org
I am following up oin this thread because I am experiencing the same problem setting up the time on my new AM device. The device was shipped directly from the EclipseSoundscapes.org.
When I set the device to 'custom' both red AND green lights blink. When I set it to 'default', the red light alone blinks rapidly. I have checked the SD card, and it appears to be properly seated.
The SD Card is the one that shipped - SanDisk Extreme 64GB.
Can someone suggest next steps I should try?
Both the red and green lights flash. The switch is in the custome setting and no matter how many times i play the sound it keeps flashing the green and red light. This is my first time with and audio moth and I am using it to record the solar eclipse. I am concerned that it will not properly record if it's not even setting the time correctly.
Hi, Can you describe what happens. When you switch to CUSTOM the AudioMoth should show solid red and a flashing green LED. Is it then listening for the chime from the smartphone. Hold the smartphone a few centimeters from the AudioMoth and it should recognise the sound and start a recording. You can also test the AudioMoth by making a recording in DEFAULT without setting the time. Switch to DEFAULT and it will immediately start making a continous recording. Check that it records your voice correctly, and that the resulting WAV file sounds okay. Alex
