Hi everyboy,
I had configured Audiomoth to record bat with 0 seconds as sleep duration and a record duration as 5 seconds.
When I download the data I can't understand what happens. Each wav file has 3 seconds or less ...
Anyone know where the mistake is?
I attach a configuration picture and file list downloaded
Thanks everybody
Hi, The AudioMoth is not able to close and open the file within the sleep period that you requested. This typically takes less than 1 second but increases as the number of files on the SD card increases. The Config App would have displayed a warning when you set the sleep period to 0 seconds. To try to keep to the requested schedule, AudioMoth is cutting the recording short in order to try to finish at the correct time. This is why the files that start 3 seconds late are only 2 seconds long, and the ones that start 2 seconds late are 3 seconds long. The Config App has tools to split AudioMoth WAV files into short durations, so it is generally better to record for much longer, typically up to an hour long, and then split the files. The schedule below will generate 59 min and 55 second duration files which are about 1.8 GB in size. It allows 5 seconds between recordings. You can also do something like record for 595 seconds and sleep for 5 seconds to generate more shorted recordings. Subtracting the sleep duration from the intended cycle time, in this case 10 minutes, ensures that each file starts on a regular time (e.g. 00:00, 00:10, 00:20, 00:30, etc.)
If you need short 5 second files, you can then split them using the option the Config App. In this case, you will then end up with files that start on all times divisible by 5 seconds, and each one will be 5 seconds long.
