I am planning to record using the default mode when I get out into the field. Before arriving, I will keep the device switched on "USB/Off." A few days before heading into the field I was planning to install the batteries, set the clock, and then turn "Off" until I get into the field. However, I am confused as to how to set the clock when using the AudioMoth in "default" mode for recording.
Some instructions seem to say that I should have the AudioMoth on "default" when I use the app to play a chime to set the clock while others say to have the switch on "custom" mode. What do others reccomend?
You can only set the time using the Chime App when the switch is in CUSTOM position. When in this position the AudioMoth will listen for the acoustic chime from the AudioMoth Chime smartphone app. While doing this the red light will remain solid whilst the green flashes (100ms). If it doesn't do this the time has already been set.
When in DEFAULT mode, AudioMoth will start recording immediately outside of the configured timing schedule, at either the default settings (if the device wasn't configured) or with the previously configured settings. AudioMoth will record one continuous WAV file in DEFAULT mode and will even record if the time hasn't been set. Do you remember where you saw the conflicting instructions? If you send a link we can correct these.
