I am sending AudioMoths to users to configure themselves. Should there be any difference in my instructions to Windows or Mac users?

Thank you this is very helpful. Upon reflection, I think the user in question did not push the sd card in all the way. He said it was blinking green in custom but several days later, blinking green when it should have been recording. One other issue arose with 2 Mac users who said there was no Local Time option in the Config app File menu. Is this possible? The were both using firmware 1.3
No, the instructions should be the same, and Macs tend to be more reliable - most of the connection problems are on Windows and Linux. The new firmware 1.4.0 onwards writes the configuration onto the SD card as a CONFIG.TXT file so you can check what was actually set. We try to get volunteers to confirm the state of the LED after they have switched to CUSTOM mode. Either a flashing red LED to show it is actually recording, or a flashing green LED to show it is waiting to record. If there is no CONFIG.TXT file the user either hasn't configured the device or hasn't switched the device to CUSTOM mode.
The main reason I'm asking this is because a Mac user had a blank card after one week of recordings. As far as I can tell, he configured it correctly.
