My Comcast modem is putting out intermittent high-pitched coil whine noises and I bought an AudioMoth in hopes of recording these sounds. (I complained to Comcast and they sent a technician to my home. He said he couldn't hear anything and modems can't make noises because they have no mechanical parts. However a search across the internet finds a lot of people complaining about the high-pitched whines coming out of their Comcast modems.) I want to be able to send the Comcast executives I communicated with the actual modem noise that is driving us crazy. I can't seem to get the right settings that work on the AudioMoth. I do record sounds but not the actual whine. I was wondering if anyone has experience on the best way to capture coil whine sounds on the AudioMoth.

Hi, If you set a high sample rate of 384kHz you should capture the sounds. Load the resulting WAV file into https://play.openacousticdevices.info and then you'll be able to downsample and find the frequency of the tone. Alex
