Hi all,
I recently updated my AudioMoth 1.2 device's firmware to 1.8.0 and Configuration app to 1.7.0. Since then I am unable to configure it with a correct local time. Whenever the device is USB connected, year is always set to 1970 and time is wrong as shown below. I am based in Japan and would like to use UTC+9, which is correctly displayed, but date and time are not.
When unplugged, the configuration app shows a correct date and time.
My machine is Macbook 12" (2017) and OS is Catalina. I also tried on a Windows PC but the result was the same. I removed and reinserted batteries, and even downgraded the firmwares of the device and app, but they changed nothing either.
Does anyone have the same issue? or any idea to solve this? Any info is appreciated.
Cheers,
Ray
Great. We only set the time when you push the button so that it’s possible to check the clock drift on devices after they are recovered. Let us know if you have any more issues. Alex
Hi Alex,
Thank you for your quick response and sorry for the confusion.
Clicking 'Configure AudioMoth' actually worked, thank you!
I thought the previous versions of the app immediately showed a correct time when I clicked 'Local Time' while the device was plugged in, regardless of whether or not the batteries were removed and reinserted before plugging in (, which I am not sure if this is true or not). Then I thought the behaviour of the app changed after the latest update, which confused me. But it seems my mistake!
Thank you for your help! It's all good now.
Ray
Hi Ray, I'm not quite sure what problem you are describing here. When you remove the batteries from the AudioMoth it will lose the time. When you plug the AudioMoth back in, it will show the current time on the device which starts counting up from 1st Jan 1970 00:00:00. When you click 'Configure AudioMoth' it will transfer the settings to the AudioMoth and set the time. From that moment on the time on the AudioMoth will be the correct time, either in UTC or in local time depending on the configuration app setting. The screenshot above shows that the time was set correctly on the device and the configuration app was able to read the correct time back before the AudioMoth was unplugged. Is the problem that when you reconnect the AudioMoth after configuring and setting the time, but keeping the batteries in place, the time is going back to 1st Jan 1970 00:00:00? Alex
