This is related to the topic of customizing firmware to set different sampling rates for different time periods, but I realize I might be asking the wrong question (my original question here https://www.openacousticdevices.info/support/configuration-support/record-birds-and-bats-with-different-settings/p-1/dl-5ec80e5b6864df0017e1fda2-5d5e8035a7548400161d7c29-5?origin=member_comments_page). Instead, how about this: Setting the sampling rate to a higher frequency to capture bats (256 kHz, with the Nyquist frequency of 128 kHz) would theoretically register bats, birds and frogs (the latter 2 rarely emitting over 12 kHz or 6 kHz, respectively). If I want to sample all 3 taxa, can I do so by simply settin all recording periods to the higher sampling rate of 256 kHz, or will the quality of the lower frequency recordings be poorer than if I had set the sampling rate lower for those? Or is this manageable with sub-sampling during post-processing?
