I have purchased an AM with waterproof case and tried it out tiwce in my garden. It seems to me there is too much background sound (is it called white noise in Englisch?). I use a Sandisk Extreme 64 GB card and Ansmann Li-on recharchable batteries. Am I doing someting wrong or is there something wrong with the AM? I have two examples. One is from my garden (AM in the waterproof case) and one is a test in a quiet room without the waterproof case. I'm counting to 10 in Dutch because my pronounciation of the number 3 in Englisch is very bad 😉

Hi, The case will reduce the low frequencies in the recordings a bit and recording outside of the case and counting normally is the best way to check the quality. There is some background noise from the SD card writes audible in the recording when you are counting. It is always there to some degree but I think this seems to be more than normal. I think this may be due to the Li-ion batteries as the normal cell voltage of a Li-ion battery is 3.7 - 4.2V so these AA replacements use internal voltage regulators to reduce the voltage to 1.5V. Can you try the same counting experiment with some good quality alkaline batteries or regular NiMH rechargeable batteries. Alex
