Hi all, I was hoping for a bit of info on the upcoming AudioMoth 2.0, specifically:
- Is there any update on the release date?
- Am I right in thinking that the new model will have GPS-synced clock modules? i.e. for use in arrays to spatially locate vocalising birds.
Cheers,
Nick
Hi Andy! Please, we contacted you before and bought some audiomoth v 1.1.0. We need some more, we send them e-mail, will it be that new audiomoths come out? we will be attentive in the next weeks!
Hi Nick,
The next version of AudioMoth is 1.2.0. We are getting ready to release this in the next few weeks.
New features include:
- New internal MEMS microphone
- Lower self-noise and improved recording quality
- Compatible with NiMH rechargeable batteries
- Exposed footprint for an external microphone via a 3.5 mm jack
No, AudioMoth 1.2.0 will not have a GPS-synced clock, but like AudioMoth 1.0.0 and 1.1.0, AudioMoth 1.2.0 will still have exposed GPIO pins, these could be used to add modules to the board, such as GPS. To achieve this however it would require the creation of custom firmware. This is something we are still exploring.
Thanks,
Andy
