Device is not recording, lights off

Hello fellows,

I have been an audiomoth user since 2018. However, my device (version 1.2.0) is not recording after configured in the Conf. App.

When connected with the USB cable, it looks to be OK. The green LED is fixed. When I put the swicth to DEFAULT or CUSTOM, nothing is recorded. The two LED do not light up.

I have already installed the latest firmware version (1.9.2), however, the device still has the same problem.

Do I miss something ?

I tryed the AudioMoth-USB-Microphone firmware, the microphone is working fine, I was able to record and save files in my computer via "AudioMoth Live App". The LED flashes are red in CUSTOM and green in DEFAULT. In this sense, it seems the device works correctly whith a microphone firmware, but in the Audiomoth firmware I can't switch to recorder mode, even in CUSTOM or DEFAULT. The device not only doesn't light up any LEDs, it also doesn't record or generate files.

I don't know how to proceed or if I'm missing something.

Yes. Check if it records okay without the batteries, just keeping it plugged into USB power.

Hi Alex,

I installed the most current version of the configuration app, I was using the older version because I was more familiar.

The records are okay without batteries. I think the problem is in the box where the batteries are inserted, it apparently has some kind of looseness and the batteries are not fitting well.

Check the solder joints on the front face where the battery holder is connected to the PCB. It's sometimes possible to put the batteries in with the spring clip mis-alligned so that they make a poor connection.

Hi Jean, Does the AudioMoth configure okay - no warnings when you press 'Configure AudioMoth'? After configuring, keep powering by USB cable, and switch to DEFAULT. Do the red or green LED do anything? Alex

Hi again, Alex when I re-installed the firmware I just saw the red light on for about 5 seconds when the AudioMoth restarted. The device did not create any files when I switched to default or custom mode.

The LEDs apparently working. When I resert the device, re-installed the firmware and put in conf mode both LEDs was on. I managed to do all these procedures and the lights came on. However, the biggest problem is that in both CUSTOM or DEFAULT mode, the device not only doesn't light up any LEDs, it also doesn't record or generate files (I've already changed the micro-SD). I have five devices and this one, purchased in 2023, started having this problem recently.

Can you try the AudioMoth-USB-Microphone firmware and check that the LED flashes red in CUSTOM and green in DEFAULT. I'm wondering if the switch is not working correctly. This seems to be an unusual hardware issue.
