Dear AudioMoth team,
I saw in another post that there would be a 3rd purchase round through GroupGets sometime this month. I just wondered if you could confirm that it will be going ahead as I'm keen to place an order to carry out a project in the UK this summer.
Many thanks,
William
Hello Selvino, the Audiomoth has proved to be incredible popular once again and the third campaign has maxed out at 300%. This means that the campaign is now closed and the order will be manufactured by CircuitHub, and sent out via Group Gets. We are looking at future options to get the devices in people's hands and will update you shortly. Sorry for the disappointment with this particular campaign, but these campaigns bring the costs down significantly to users, so they end up being in high demand. There will be another opportunity for you to get your hands on them soon so watch this space
Dear AudioMoth,
I would be interested in ordering maybe 50 audiomoths. Is that still possible for the 3rd round?
Hi Mike
That is very reassuring to know as I do not have much money and was taking a chance on this.
Hope it arrives in time for this year.
Regards Fran

Note Alasdair's comments that these are not commercial products, so BTO or NHBS would have to sell them as such. They might not want to do that. I have one from the last round and am just trying it out at the moment. If you are interested in recording bird song, then from my limited experience these devices seem to work very well. I didn't buy it for that purpose, but am using the dawn chorus as a test. I have now ordered another device!
Regards Mike
Hi Alasdair
Thanks for your very helpful reply. I have taken the plunge and ordered one. It would be good if you could get the BTO or NHBS to bulk purchase and sell them in the UK. Cheers Fran
Hi Fran, thanks for getting in touch. The GroupGets order aggregates a number of orders together to reduce the cost of aquiring a single device. If you wanted to order say 3 - 5 directly from CircuitHub (who manufacture them) it would cost several hundred dollars per device, but because we order 200+ at a time we can offer everyone the same lower cost of $49.99.
If you place an order you won't be charged until the GroupGets campaign closes, so this will be in 22 days time (it being the 29th March today). Once they have been manufactured GroupGets receive them and run a random test on about 10 devices to confirm they work electrically. If they pass, we then ship them out. However, please note that the AudioMoth is a prototype research tool, and is not a commercial product. As such, it comes with no warranty or guarantee that it is fit for purpose so the purchase is at your own risk at the moment in time. The last two GroupGet rounds delivered 850+ device and that have worked fine and there is good support via this forum too if you want to purchase a few devices at first to evaluate them.
Kind regards,
Alasdair (GroupGets Initiator | Arribada Initiative)
Hi I have never purchased this way , can you tell me how the payment is collected and what happens if the device is faulty? Regards Fran
Great! Very helpful and prompt response, thank you! I'm in Canada so I will likely receive sooner than UK will from a US shipper. May-June would be excellent timing for doing a broad biodiverse audio-capture in this area. Will keep July-August contingency plan in case they are hung up in customs or shipping.
Hi Tyne,
That's our worst case (6 weeks factory lead time). We had 4 weeks in the following round but added 2 more so we have time to source additional stock etc in this round. Shipping is either direct from the US via GroupGets, or if to the UK you can select to freight forward (much cheaper - $11) as we will import all of the AM modules in bulk and re-package and ship them out.
You're looking at late May, early June to get your hands on them.
Is there any way to estimate date of delivery? April 20 + 6 weeks factory lead time + where are these shipping from? July? August? September? About how long did it take purchasers to receive their devices on previous cycles after the end of the campaign? Knowing this will inform what tests I can perform this season. Thank you.
Hi Anne, thanks for your feedback and glad you're a fan of the Audiomoth! Unfortunately we can't change the length of this campaign once it's posted as people may be waiting for funds to arrive before their order goes through at the end of the campaign. But we're in touch with CircuitHub to make sure the manufacturing process is as quick as possible and will review option in the future such as how we might arrange to end early when a target is met
So happy to see the 3rd Round go live! Many of us are planning to use the AudioMoths for the summer field season. Any chance you can shorten the campaign so that they can ship a bit sooner? Given that it's already 100% funded in 3 days perhaps you could reduce to 2 weeks? Thanks for such a great product!
That's fantastic, thank you very much Andy!
GroupGets round 3 is now live!
Hi William,
When all the previous round 2 purchasers have received their devices round three will go ahead. We are aiming to start it this month. We will send out an email to all subscribers when this is ready to go.
Thanks,
Andy
