I know the global supply chain issues & chip shortages have hit Audiomoth/GroupGets/LabMaker hard, but is there any sort of realistic estimated time that the next GroupGets campaign will be? I keep seeing it pushed further and further back, now into 2023? Is there any more concrete timeframe? Like a target month?
I know the Hydromoth campaigns just finished up so didn't know if there would be a focus back to Audiomoths (I realize the recorder is fundamentally the same, case is the big difference & I need the terrestrial case).
Thanks!
Just to bump this . . . are there plans for another round coming out? I assume I'm not the only one who has been waiting around since March 2022 for another round of standard AM 1.2. The GPS modules and hydro look great and (ignoring that they're nearly twice the price) both recent campaigns sold out ridiculously fast. Labmaker claims they're taking orders for August 2023 . . . which is absurdly unhelpful for those of us surveying for spring activity in the northern hemisphere. I absolutely love the tech, but the bloom is certainly off the rose if purchasing an entire year in advance of a project is the only option. Is there any hope for slackers like myself who only started preparing 6 months ahead of time?
Hi Carly, Yes, there is little to no global microcontroller stock at the moment, suppliers are estimating that AudioMoth chips will be back by 2023. We can't give accurate estimates, but are hopeful for a new batch of AudioMoths by early next year with the availability of the new supply. We will prioritise AudioMoth 1.2.0 manufacture when the chip supplies do come back. For cases, GroupGets and LabMaker have plenty of the terrestrial and underwater versions if you need them. Thanks,
