Hello, I'm really enjoying the Audiomoth and its versatility. I do have one question, would it be possible, with the current v1.2, to get 32bit recordings? This way there would be no need to set the gain in the software, just adjust the amplitude after the recording to fit the needs. Thank you for your time, looking forward to the reply.

Hi, The raw samples from the ADC are only 12-bit and are sampled at 384kHz. We then oversample in software to generate the lower sampling rates. This means that we use x 8 over-sampling to generate 15-bit resolution at 48kHz. Only at the very lowest sampling rates do we generate more than 16-bit resolution and then end up rescaling the samples before writing to the SD card at 16-bit resolution. We're looking at the option of using an external 24-bit ADC in future versions of AudioMoth to improve the dynamic range as you suggest. Alex
