The case was tilted back just slightly for a small amount of water to collect and cover the microphone opening on the case.

Can a small amount of water over the case microphone membrane cause it to record nothing?

Hi Brian,
One of my Audiomoths in IPX7 case was hidden near a ditch. It was left there for ten days. When I collected it, it was half under water, mic in air. Inside was completely dry, and AM was still recording. When I checked the recordings, it had been completely under water for over 24h. Whilst under water, recordings were very faint. After 24h mic was apparently back in air and recordings were fine as always.
Hello...It could require some investment to dry out. Did you dry out the desiccant gems before you left them for the situation with the mic? On the off chance that you didn't, the precious stones could well have presented more dampness in the event that they had been in a clammy spot heretofore. In the event that you don't have focal warming, I'd possibly make a container with an old style 40W radiant bulb at the base and a rack for the mic a couple of creeps above
