Hi everyone,
In the framework of our study we use Audiomoth which records from late March to mid-July. We scheduled them in local hours and requested a check-in at sunrise and sunset. The switch to summer time will take place at the end of the week, our question is: will the sunrise/sunset programming in local time integrate this change in time or do we have to make a new programming on the ground? Or is going to the field and use the application by simply performing a "chime" is enough?
Thanking you in advance,
Cordially
Hi Tristan,
All the internal scheduling of AudioMoth recordings is performed in UTC and the timezone set is just used to generate the appropriate timestamps in the recordings and the recording filename. The timezone set is the one shown on the Config App when the device is configured. If this was local in the UK it would have been UTC. The chime will update the time, but not change the timezone that was set. This means that if you configured the AudioMoth with UTC set, then it will continue to use UTC over the entire period. If you configure it with UTC+1 set, then it will use UTC+1 over the entire period. Either way, the sunrise and sunset times will still be calculated correctly in UTC and match the actual sun for the deployment location.
