Hi,
I have been told that putting a portable charger into an audio moth when changing it's batteries will keep the configuration, is this correct? If so, do any of the switches need changed or you simply just insert the portable charger and replace the batteries?
The configuration is persistent so will always stay on the AudioMoth even when the batteries are removed.
However, when the batteries are removed the AudioMoth will lose the time. The trick above will probably work but might be a bit fiddly. An alternative is to switch to USB/OFF and then replace the batteries. Then you can either use the AudioMoth Time App to just set the time by USB, leaving the configuration unchanged. A slightly simpler approach to the switch to USB/OFF, replace the batteries, and then switch back to CUSTOM. The AudioMoth will show a constant red LED and a flashing green LED, meaning that it needs the time set and is listening for the chime from the smartphone app (https://www.openacousticdevices.info/mobileapplications). Hold the smartphone close to the microphone, push the button, it will play a short tune from which the AudioMoth can determine the time, and then it will continue recording.
