Hello!
I'm interested in adding an external mic to an AM Dev for recording bat species in the Western US (freq range ~ 20-100 kHz).
I've seen references to the Primo EM258; are there other compatible mics worth considering for my needs?
Thanks, Colin
Hi Alex,
Thank you for this, I'm definitely going to experiment with the higher gain and lower sampling rate to see how that improves AudioMoth's performance.
Quick questions: is the onboard mic of the AudioMoth Dev the same as used in AudioMoth? The Dev also appears similar enough in size to use it in the AudioMoth housing (?) The reason I ask is that I'm attracted to the Dev's voltage range which would allow me to power it with an external 6v LiFePO4, which I've effectively used with both trail cameras and detectors like the Song Meter Mini Bat in the field.
Hi, In our informal comparisons the EM258 is a lot less sensitive than the internal microphone for recording bats. Alex
