Constant Electronic Whine Throughout Recording

Hello,

So I just begun testing my hydromoths before deployment, and in playing back the recording of one of my hydromoths, the background noises was much different than the other devices. It has a long continuous whine at 15 khz that disrupts other noises sometimes making them stutter. I compared it to our other hydromoths and it is definitely different. I was testing the sound by just humming to myself, but it will demonstrate the issue well.

So I tested the recording outside and as I left the room the whine seemed to fade. Is it possible it is picking up an electronic sounds that I can't hear?

It's definately possible that it was picking up electronic sounds. We've seen a very noisy WiFi router do this in the past. Double check in an area where interference is unlikely.

The original has very strong 15kHz noise. If it is still present outside I think this HydroMoth probably has a hardware issue. Can you email andy@openacousticdevices.info as he'd probably want to look at the cause.

I was testing my Audio Moths inside and all 5 of them had the same issue as noted in your original post. Moving outside to an area of low radio interference mitigated the problem noise.
