I have three AudioMoths that are unable to record in CUSTOM mode (all show a blinking green light and solid red light when custom is selected). Two of these three units can successfully record in DEFAULT mode and save test audio files to the microSD card. However, one of them will not work in DEFAULT mode either (no lights blinking when set to DEFAULT).
I have tried the following tactics to get them to work:
Changed up the batteries and tried different brands of microSD cards,
Re-formatted the microSD cards (despite being new),
Flashed all units to the latest firmware (Version 1.10.0)
Checked that the “Always Require Acoustic Chime” option was not ticked off in the Advanced Settings.
The AudioMoths appear to be in good condition (no evidence of corrosion or visual wear and tear).
Is there anything else that I can try to get these up and running?
Thanks!
The solid red and blinking green LED means that the AudioMoth is waiting for the acoustic chime from the smartphone app. Are you playing the chime from the app?
If you are using firmware version 1.10.0 you can use the location on the smartphone app. Earlier versions will require you to switch location off.
If ‘Always Require Acoustic Chime’ is not checked, the AudioMoth will do this ehenever you switch to CUSTOM when the time has not been set. Is the issue that the time is set in the Config App and the the device is losing the time before you switch to CUSTOM for some reason?
The AudioMoth will make recordings in DEFAULT mode even if the time hasn’t been set. You should see that timestamp has a strange date.
