Hi, I purchased a quantity of AudioMoths last year to last me over two field seasons. This year when I unpackage unused AudioMoths, about a third of them are detached from the battery holder at the prog end. Any idea of the cause of this? I've read your comments about using a hot glue gun to repair but it seems to me that this should not be happening on such a regular basis. Thank you.

As a follow-up to this thread, LabMaker requested that I send them any problematic devices. I sent them 20 AudioMoths. They stress-tested them and repaired any that needed new glue. Excellent service!
The hot-melt glue does have a tendency to let go but not as often as you are experiencing - and particularly with a brand-new device! It's possible that there could be some contamination on the PCB so try degreasing with a drop of alcohol on a cotton bud before replacing the glue. Also avoid applying pressure to the board whilst the glue is setting otherwise you may twist the board and apply additional stress to the glue joint.
The glue joint will always be a weakness so be sure to hold only the battery clip whilst removing and replacing batteries and hold the circuit board only when removing and replacing the memory card and manipulating the mode switch.
Hi, Where did these AudioMoth come from? LabMaker or GroupGets?
