Hello team! We've just brought our Koala Karaoke audiomoths in after using the covers for the first time and two of them have holes in the little microphone cover.
What do you think is the best solution?
(a) patch it with a bit of sticky tape on the inside
(b) leave the holes and make sure that the audiomoth is pointed downwards when deployed
(c) Find equivalent cover material (suggestions) and glue it on
Thanks Alex - I'll check it out! We've had 50 audiomoths out for a fortnight and 4 of them have come back with holes in the vents
The original vents are 11x5mm AV5ID acoustic vents from Porelle - https://www.porelleacoustic.com/products. They are quite hard wearing but can be attractive to birds and insects in some deployments. They are available from several sources online - https://selectronix.co.uk/collections/waterproof-acoustic-vents - but in general any good quality acoustic membranes can be used.
