Is it possible to configure the Hydromoth so it can output in real-time or near real-time detected sounds above a configured threshold. Preferably with a serial RS-232 or RS-485 output signal. Thank you

Hi, Not at the moment. It's technically possible but would need a significant re-write of the firmware. We would recommend using the AudioMoth USB Microphone and connecting it to a single-board computer such as a Raspberry Pi. The RS-232 would not be fast enough for real-time transmission - a baud rate of 256000 bits per second is only a sample rate of 16kHz which is too low for most applications. The USB connection of the AudioMoth USB Microphone is 10Mbps which allows live recording at 384kHz. You can also install the AudioMoth USB Microphoe firmware on your HydroMoth - https://www.openacousticdevices.info/usb-microphone. However, it's probably easier to use the AudioMoth USB Microphone hardware with an external hydrophone for many applications. Alex
