Hi everyone, I am just about to take my audiomoths out for my PhD fieldwork and am configuring them. Does anyone know what the 'gain' and 'sleep duration' and 'recording durations' are. I cant seem to find what they mean in the guide. I basically want it to record for the entire period that I set it to record for 5am-9am, I want it to record continuously for this period.
Thanks for your advice
Jenna
Hi Jenna,
The 'gain' setting depends on what you are recording. For example, if you are recording in a very loud environment, the gain should be set low to avoid the audio clipping. I tend to use the mid gain for forest deployments. Record duration is the length of each WAV file recording in seconds. Sleep duration is how long the device sleeps between each recording in seconds. So in your application it looks like you want to sleep for 0 seconds between recordings. Its up to you how long you want each recording to be. I like having smaller WAV files to analyse rather than one big file. If you want to record for 4 hrs on one WAV file you can set record length to 14400 s. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Andy
