Loud High-Freq. Hiss

My AudioMoth lately has been producing a loud, high-freq. hiss on all my recordings. This happens no matter how I configure the unit.

What causes this and what can remedy it?

Thanks for your help. Here is an example. FYI, this was recorde with a 2KHz high-pass filter.

If you record with the default settings, and record your normal speaking voice about 40 cm from the AudioMoth, does it sound okay? Has the microphone lost sensitivity? This might happen due to water damage.

Can you post an example WAV file. If you record your voice at a normal speaking volume and 40 cm from the AudioMoth, is it still clear in the recordings?
