Amazing work! https://www.openacousticdevices.info/mmoth
Clearly it is early days, but obviously so many questions pop into mind ...
- Off board Lithium ion battery, with a onboad connecter? (So you can choose any size LiOn? or LiPo? like - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-2000mah-1s-1c-lipoly-w-2-pin-jst-ph-connector.html ?)
- Any Battery life / runtime estimates vs AM1.1?
- Cost? Double side so more expensive?
- etc, etc, etc ... Anything else to share with us yet??
We should have the first group purchase campaign for uMoth in month or so. We’re finalising some of the assembly details as it’s a bit more involved than the standard board having components on both sides.
It runs all the same firmware as the other AudioMoth models and has the same microphone as AudioMoth 1.0.0 hardware.
The energy consumption is the same as existing AudioMoth but you can pair it with any size LiPo batteries depending on the application. A small batteries like this - https://coolcomponents.co.uk/products/lithium-ion-polymer-battery-850mah - will give about 60 hours of continuous recording at 48kHz and about the same threshold recording at 384kHz.
