Hi new to configuring AMs and have gone through the manual in detail, read forum posts and still not finding much of an answer so hoping someone can explain. I am wanting to record owls so have set the schedule from dusk to dawn. Set for recording half hour on, half hour off (1800s each). Have set the sample rate to 32 (also tried others). No filters or triggers set. Then tested the recording by playing owl calls from phone app while recording on the AM. If I play the wav file in a standard audio player I can barely hear anything, even with the volume on maximum. I spent hours trying to work out why nothing was recording. Then I found out about the audio lab to test settings. In that, if I load the test file from the AM, I can see the test owl calls and can hear them if I turn the volume to 16 within that. Why can't I hear them in standard audio players? Is there a better way to configure so that the volume is higher? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or are the files designed to be analysed somewhere else with dedicated software?
Cheers
Hi,
It sounds like something is wrong with the AudioMoth or the configuration.
Can you post the CONFIG.TXT file from the tests you have done already.
Can you then reset the configuration back to the default (use the default settings where the Config App is opened and just add a 00:00 to 24:00 recording period). Switch to DEFAULT and record yourself counting to ten at normal speaking volume about 40 cm from the AudioMoth.
If you post that recording it should clearly show your voice.
