Hi, I've been using my 1.2.0 AudioMoth for over a year in monthly deployments. Last monday a sudden rainfall affected my device (the membrane of the microphone was slightly scratched) in such a way it recorded all the expected files with the expected duration of time, but there's only background noise on them. I've tested it with my voice and still nothing was recorded. The device had the 1.8.2 Firmware version on it, so I've upgraded it to the most recent version (1.9.0) and repeated all the tests but again with no success. I've noticed that if I hit the microphone with my fingernails it records the sound but in a very very lower volume than it would if the device was OK. I've also tested recording with the maximum gain of volume in the hope to compensate this apparent lack of sensibility, but had no success at all. Is there anything I can do to fix my device? My AudioMoth was purchased around March 2022.

This sounds like what has happened to 3 or my 5 devices. I was thinking that adding an external microphone might fix the problem and am intending to try that (even though I haven't used a soldering iron in years)
This sounds like the microphone has been damaged by water ingress. The microphone is replaceable but you'd would need to find someone with experience of reworking surface mount soldering.
