Hi Alex,
I bought eighteen AudioMoth 1.2.0, but unfortunately eight of them do not work correctly.
Before using them we updated the firmware from 1.7.0 to 1.8.1 with AudioMothFlashApp 1.4.1. and we used AudioMothConfigurationApp 1.9.1. with the configuration you find in the file: LIFE ALPYR.config.
We use 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SD.
When I set the AudioMoth to CUSTOM, the red light stays on and the green one flashes. The AudioMoth does not record anything. As a matter of course I checked the batteries and they are OK. The manual says that the red light stays on if the AudioMoth cannot find the recording period settings. I tried to record by setting the AudioMoth to DEFAULT and it records, but produces files with an incorrect date (01/01/2098). I attach the CONFIG.txt file that I find after the test on DEFAULT. Could please help me?
Thank you very much
Paolo
Hi Paolo, A constant red LED with a flashing green LED, when you switch to CUSTOM, means that the time on the AudioMoth has not been set, or has been lost as the batteries have been removed since configuring.
The AudioMoth will record fine in DEFAULT in this condition, but the time will be incorrect. The strange time you see if because the time will start counting from 1/1/1970 00:00 when the AudioMoth powers up, and the local time zone is applying an additional offset that causes it to wrap around. You can set the time, without changing the configuration, by using the smartphone app to play the 'chime' sound to the AudioMoth in this state. The green LED will flash faster whilst it listens to the chime, and then it will go into CUSTOM mode and start recording properly to your schedule. Or you can use the AudioMoth Time App by switching back to USB/OFF. Once the time is set, you can switch backwards and forwards to CUSTOM and USB/OFF as many times as you like, but will have to reset the time if you remove the batteries. Alex
