Remote configuration Audiomoth USB MIC

Would it be possible, through a future firmware and app update, to remotely upgrade, configure and change the operating modes of the Audiomoth USB MIC from, for example, a Raspberry Pi?

Hi Anotonio, Yep, we're looking at whether that is possible by making it enumerate as a composite devices implementing the USB Microphone and USB HID protocols simultaneously. Alex

Hi Antonio, This actually turned out to be quite feasible. We'll release version 1.3.1 of the AudioMoth-USB-Microphone firmware, and version 1.0.1 of the AudioMoth-USB-Microphone command line tool, this week. These versions support querying the firmware version and switching the AudioMoth into bootloader mode. Once in bootloader mode, the existing EFM32-Flash command line tool (https://github.com/OpenAcousticDevices/EFM32-Flash) or the Flash App then be used to update the firmware. Alex

Thank you, Alex. Once again, the power and flexibility of the Gecko microcontroller on which AudioMoth USB is based are evident. Now having the ability to remotely update the device's firmware is fantastic news. If this process could also be equipped with some mechanism to make the update reliable and robust, it would be truly impressive. I am proud to have contributed these suggestions and happy that OpenAcousticDevices has implemented them in the microphone firmware versions. Thank you for the excellent work!

The serial USB flashing process should be reliable. The only problems likely to be encountered are on the first attempt if the appropriate USB dev rules have not been set up.
