Hello, I've deployed some AudioMoths at a couple of different sites for roughly two months and have noticed that the majority of them have a weird static noise that has gotten worse with the later recordings. I initially thought that it might have been a battery problem, but the voltage didn't seem to change after the AudioMoths were recovered.
I then presumed it might have been the sampling rates that I had set to 32 kHz since my target species call at relatively low frequencies. However, increasing it to 48kHz made no difference. I've attached samples of the static noise and my configurations if anyone can identify the problem.
The first file contains my target species and the static noise in the background at 48kHz sampling rate
the second file was the initial confirguration at 32kHz sampling rate
Thanks.
Hi,
It looks like real environmental sound rather than static generated by the AudioMoth itself as the rate of repetition doesn't match anything internal to the AudioMoth. Some sort of Orthoptera? Is it in every recording? Can you confirm what make and model of SD card and batteries you are using. Can you use the 'Summaries AudioMoth Files' tool in the Config App to generate a SUMMARY.CSV file showing the files collected on one of the SD cards. Can you test these AudioMoth by making a recording of your voice with the default setttings. I assume the static isn't present then?
