Does anyone know any protocol to test the protection membranes of microphones?

We are testing the acoustic behavior of different types of membranes, depending on whether they are for recording birds, or bats, in the field, but the results are not conclusive, and we would like to know if anyone knows or is using any standard procedure for this type of test.
