Hey All!
I am looking to use the audiomoth to pick up acoustic telemetry from fish tags. I am interested to know
What's the difference between hydromoth and audiomoth USB
Are there any designs or ideas on how to use the audiomoth USB underwater
Any advice for using the hydromoth underwater but connected via usb to a pi
Would a better solution be to just connect a hydrophone to the audiomoth usb on shore and dangle that underwater
My goal is to either use GStreamer to send audio to a local server to listen for signals or to run some scripts locally to do that on the pi and push them to a DB. The codes I am looking to pickup are transmitted at 69kHz. Here's some more info about the tags in case anyone's curious
Hi Nick, The microphone and audio front-end of the AudioMoth USB Microphone and HydroMoth are identical but you would obviously have to waterproof the AudioMoth USB Microphone somehow. The easier option would probably be a hydrophone. The Aquarian H2D microphone plugs directly into the AudioMoth USB Microphone via the 3.5mm jack. You would need to check the frequency response and sensitivity for this application but I've found it quite good at detecting depth sounder pings in this frequency range. Alex
