Hi, upgrading a groupgets AM from the original FW (1.2.x?) to the latest 1.4.4 using the 1.1.0 app on a windows PC. I can get through most of the process and get a "device connected with serial bootloader " type message towards the end, but after pressing update firmware I always get a "firmware update failed, retry" type message. Tried several times and have tried some of the processes in other threads too without luck. The device will now not connect to the configuration app and appears to be non-functional.
P.S. why don't you use a file on the flash card for updates, would be a lot less fiddly?
Hi, Sorry you are having trouble with this. It normally works really reliably - we use the Flash App several times a day to change firmware on devices. It is much easier from 1.3.0 onwards as the firmware will automatically switch to flash mode for you and everything works from the single button press on the Flash App. We use this approach as it uses the factory installed bootloader so that it will work with processors straight from Silicon Labs that have no firmware installed. You can't damage the AudioMoth through this route, and if you follow the instructions under the 'Show Manual Switch Instructions' menu option - specifically to remove the batteries, hold the paper clip on the contacts, and then power it up by plugging it into the USB socket (a bit fiddly) - you will be able to get the 'Device connected with serial bootloader' message again. You should be able to then flash the device. If you still have trouble, under the 'Help' option you can save the log file and post it here. That should tell us what is going wrong. Alex
