Dear Open Acoustic Devices Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am an enthusiastic user of the AudioMoth device, and I have a couple of questions related to its setup and post-recording analysis. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the following topics:
AudioMoth Configuration for Bat Recording:
Could you please provide detailed instructions on how to configure the AudioMoth device specifically for bat recording? I am particularly interested in optimal settings for capturing bat calls effectively.
Software for Bat Call Analysis:
After recording bat calls using AudioMoth, what software tools do you recommend for analyzing the recorded data? Are there any specific programs or packages that work well for identifying bat species based on their calls?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your expert advice.
Best regards, Helena Rambla of Madretierra NGO
Hi, As a starting point I'd just make some minute long recordings at 192kHz which will be sufficient for most bat species.
You can then use AudioMoth Play to quickly visualise individual recordings - AudioMoth Play (openacousticdevices.info)
This also allows you to experiment with the frequency and amplitude triggering settings that you can then deploy on AudioMoth - https://github.com/OpenAcousticDevices/Application-Notes/blob/master/Using_AudioMoth_with_Filtered_and_Triggered_Recordings/Using_AudioMoth_with_Filtering_and_Triggered_Recordings.pdf Many people use Kaleidoscope Pro for further analysis - https://www.wildlifeacoustics.com/products/kaleidoscope-pro.
