We have a problem with some of our devices. By using the Flashing App, we tried to update two devices from 1.3.0 to 1.4.1, and another device from 1.4 to 1.4.1.
Like other post in this FORUM , we have the error "Could not connect AM...RECONNECT AND FLASH AGAIN", finally all of them failed, and didn't work anymore.
Could we repair them?
We tried to update others AM, directly from 1.4 to 1.42, with the same wire in the same and another computer, and they were updated well.
We have W10 SYTEM.
Thanks

Great.
Thanks Alex, finally with the following the last steps, we could repair all Audiomoths.
Thanks again
Sorry, I don't understand. Can you now start them in flash mode? If so, what did you do?
THANKS ...ITS ALL OK..NOW..
If you'd prefer you can send them to us and we can we can do this but I think it would be easier to get this working.
Are you using one of your working AudioMoth? If it doesn't work with your working AudioMoth then we should figure out what the problem is there, and then you'll be able to fix the ones that aren't working. The approach of starting an AudioMoth in flash mode from power-up will definitely work with a working AudioMoth:
1) Remove batteries.
2) Put switch in USB/OFF.
3) Open Flash App.
4) Plug in USB.
Can you do that and confirm what is displays in the Flash App. Then: 5) Unplug USB.
6) Confirm app says 'No AudioMoth found.'
7) Hold paperclips on contacts.
8) Plug in USB. If successful then 'Found AudioMoth in flash mode with a serial bootloader' will appear.
Exactly. Is imposible to start flash mode.
Sorry, I don't understand. You cannot start up the working AudioMoth in flash mode as per the instructions above?
Impossible. My devices don't work following all the steps.
You should do the above with the switch in USB/OFF.
The procedure for recovering a device without a functioning firmware is different from the normal flashing process so it would be good to confirm that that process works correctly for you with an AudioMoth which is known to be working. This means holding the paper clip on first, then plugging in the USB cable, and confirming that the flash app recognises the serial bootloader. Can you try that process with an AudioMoth that is working. The contacts are spaced to match the small end of the paperclip rather than the large end. This might be more reliable. With the normal flash procedure you have multiple opportunities to connect the contacts - every time the two LED flash. With the recovery procedure you only have one chance in the milliseconds after plugging in the USB cable so it is a lot more tricky. If it doesn't work immediately unplug the USB and try again.
I have tried again, but the devices with problems don't work. I have another 15 audiomoths. I had updated all of them several times. The wire works with the others.
Devices that don't work started to malfuntion after the failure of the 1.4.1 updating.. (I have tried again and taken pictures to show you the result.
The ones that work:
and the devices with problems.
Thanks again
First check with one of the AudioMoth that is working that you can power it up directly in flash mode. Remove batteries, hold paperclip on contacts, and then plug in the USB cable. You should see the message - 'Found AudioMoth in flash mode with a serial bootloader'. If this doesn't work then there is something wrong with you setup - either the USB cable, or the paperclip is coated in lacquer and isn't conducting. Once the message appears, just unplug the AudioMoth and it will return to normal.
We tried all of these options, following the steps, but they didn't work. After the problem with the update (1.4.1) that we explained in the first post, the devices didn't work at all.
Apart from the updating problems, the devices don't work when we put batteries or when we conect to computer, also, the leds don't work.
Could you give us a solution? Could we give you back the devices to be repaired?
thanks again
From version 1.3.0 the flashing process is a bit easier as the Flash App can automatically switch these to flash mode. The process is to power them up directly into flash mode by removing the batteries, holding the paperclip on the contacts and then plugging in the USB cable. The should work for all of them. Try it our on one of the AudioMoth that you have successfully updated.
Sorry for the delay.
These three Audiomoths came from two different orders from LABMAKER. Two of them originally had Firmware 1.0.0 and the other one Firmware 1.1.0. (2019 and 2020).
All of them were updated with firmwarer 1.3.0, in the moment of the "problem".
Thanks in advance.

It is a bit tricky as you need to ensure that the contacts are connected together as the power is applied by the USB cable (make sure that you do not have batteries installed) so that the AudioMoth immediately powers up in flash mode. This approach will work though.
We tried all these options, and the devices didn't work.
Hi. First off make sure you have the most up to date version of the Flash App - version 1.1.0 - as we made some updates to improve reliability. Then follow the instructions under the 'Show Manual Switch Instructions' which will allow you to start the AudioMoth directly in flash mode. This will then allow you to apply the new firmware. Alex
